I know that some people's results differ and I have a theory behind that as well. ![]() This helped take a couple degrees off when cruising but the amount of fan wash induced heat-soak occurring at any speeds below about 45mph and engine speed under 2,500 rpm was ridiculous. After a week or so I drilled (3) 1/2" holes through some of the blocked portions of the grill in front of the intake snorkel. What I noticed almost immediately, like most others with a similar set-up, is the fans running wide open with the Lund tune and the drastic difference between ambient and intake temps in the Ford gauge mode. ![]() The engine is an air pump, the easier you let it suck in what it wants and the more efficiently it processes and exhausts the air the happier it is and the more power you make. MY own tuning principle for power over the last 20 years has been simple. I went with the "holy trinity" of affordable power adders, an MBRP Street 3" cat back, JLT intake, and nGauge with Lund tune for 93 Octane and the intake/exhaust. Knowing that the motor had untapped potential I immediately looked to the aftermarket for simple bolt-on's. ![]() I love the new Mustang, absolutely love it. ![]() I do mostly suspension and brake stuff but due to exposure I have been involved in all aspects of the build and tuning process based on track conditions, etc. My background is with amateur road race engineering/building, I'm not a mechanical engineer but I worked on a pro road racing team for 4-5 years and spent many years wrenching on German cars from the 80's and 90's.
